Nasal spray influenza vaccine should not be used during upcoming influenza season

After an assessment of available data on the effectiveness of the live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) nasal spray, CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted that this vaccine should not be used during the upcoming 2016–17 influenza season. ACIP recommended that instead, all persons aged 6 months and older be given either the inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV) or recombinant influenza vaccine injections.
