Seven lots of Infants' Tylenol Oral Suspension 1 oz. Grape have been recalled by McNeil Consumer Healthcare at the wholesale and retail levels. The nationwide recall affects 574,000 bottles of the product.
McNeil said that it took this action "as a precaution after receiving a number of complaints from consumers" about difficulty with using the SimpleMeasure dosing system. In some bottles, the flow restrictor in the top of the bottle was pushed into the bottle when parents and caregivers inserted the dosing syringe.
Bottles of the products with intact flow restrictors can continue to be used, McNeil said. Pharmacists can help parents learn to use the SimpleMeasure system using an instructional video posted on YouTube.
The company requests that consumers not use the product if the flow restrictor has been pushed into the bottle. Refunds can be requested at www.tylenol.com or by calling 888-222-6036 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time, and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time.
Lot numbers involved in the recall are BIL0U00, BIL0V00, BIL3500, BJL2D00, BJL2E00, BJL2T00, and BJL2U00.
